The country of Belize is served by Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), located northwest of Belize City in Ladyville. Goldson International is the only fully functioning international airport in Belize.
Travelling from Belize City to Placencia Village, you have several options from which to choose:
Via Bus: If you choose to travel to Placencia by bus, you’ll take a taxi from BZE to the Belize City Bus Terminal.
- Ritchies Bus Service (www.ritchiesbusservice.com) leaves the Belize City Bus Terminal daily at 3:30PM from the Belize City Bus Terminal, stopping briefly in Belmopan and Dangriga enroute to Placencia.
- Another option will be to take one of the other bus lines to Independence Village, then a taxi to Mango Creek, and the Hokey Pokey Water Taxi across the Placencia Lagoon to Placencia Village.
Via Shuttle Van: If you Google “airport shuttles”, you’ll find a host of shuttle services to whisk you from Goldson International Airport to Placencia Village. The trip takes approximately 3-1/2 hours, and the lush scenery through the mountains along the Hummingbird Highway is exquisite.
Via Rental Car: Outside Goldson International you’ll find several car rental agencies from which to choose. The scenery through the mountains along the Hummingbird Highway is spectacular, so you’ll want to make the trip during the daylight hours.
